![]() While the idea of “support” may sound like a menial task, it’s actually very busy in combat. Raiding as a Lore-masterįor a raid environment the Lore-master’s expected role is Support for debuff and crowd-control with a focus on The Ancient Master specialization. When specialized in the red traits, Master of Nature’s Fury, they can provide a nice burst of AOE damage and when in the blue line, Keeper of Animals, they contribute damage and support with their pets. In solo landscape content and with small fellowships, the Lore-master uses its support skills, damage abilities, and light healing. Their abilities are a mix of nature magic like fire, lightning, and frost, they can attack from range and also combat in melee with their Staff-strike and Staff-sweep skills. The Lore-master plays an essential support role in LOTRO and is the only class that can wield a staff and summon nature pets to fight by their side. Inspired by Elrond, Half-Elven the Master of Rivendell, the Lore-master class is in tune with relics of the past, nature, and the elements, utilizing this knowledge to defend against the evil forces in Middle-earth. Ok, enough on my mini-rant, just wanted to chime in on an issue that ultimately doesn't matter to much of anyone. In the First Age, the Lore-masters were known as Lambengolmor, skilled historians of linguistic study who wrote about the Elves and their languages. I'm a person who likes knowing as much of the little details on a game as I can so I accept that spending time on forums and wiki's comes with the territory, I just prefer that spending that time doesn't become necessary in-game. As for the wiki I already spend to much time on there as is, and the less time spend alt-tabbing between game and internet the better in my opinion. If I start the wrong the way I have no way of telling until I eventually get frustrated enough to quit. Overall I heartily dislike endlessly spending effort of trying to do something when the only possible feedback is successfully completing it. While simply completing quests obviously has no rng component, I had no way in game of knowing that. In general though I dislike hidden "required" content like this, especially in rng dominated games. My complaint is more along the lines of wondering why they didn't just add the deed back when meta-deeds were first introduced, rather than some idea that they should go back and finish them now. Also as far as annoying things go this was pretty minor and i figured it out without even needing to check wiki cause I had decided to finish every quest i could find just for the hell of it. It would be nice if all these little things could get polished up, but it has long been obvious the dev time to do so is simply not available and more than likely never will be. lotro-wiki and its ilk) to inform players of details like the Shire Brewmaster deed and other not-so-secret secrets.Īnd I totally agree with you. The simplest and most obvious way is to simply make the brewmaster deed no longer a hidden deed.Īt this stage of LotRO's development, the devs are rightly focusing their resources elsewhere and relying on secondary sources on the web (i.e. Hidden deeds are awesome and I think they should stay but if you are going to add them to the meta-deed then there needs to be something in game telling you how that deed is completed. ![]() Was it completing quests, or drinking the special ales, etc? The first time I went through and finished the shire meta-deed I saw the brewmaster deed and had no clue how to complete it because there was no progress to show what advanced. Sure you find and complete those quests, but it never activates a deed. What you choose to do regarding playing the game is entirely up to you. And while you might need that deed to complete the Shire meta-deeds, you don't need to complete the Shire meta-deeds. It's not very hidden, given that eventually every player is going to take a character into one of the inns that has a related quest at some point and see the innkeeper with a ring over his head.
