But, putting them in places where Raiders might take cover are usually places your pawns won't normally walk during their daily activities. Just don't put them in spots where many of your pawns are very likely to walk over them. Traps - Traps can be built anywhere and having some in your internal areas is fine. At the very least, they'll catch a few and draw attention. (Interior defenses/nested defenses) You should have turrets, for instance, that are on switches and that can, in a pinch, cover internal spaces or popular paths leading to those spots. Your best bet is to construct your colony so that you have multiple places in your base that you can defend from. You can't really prevent them without mods and can't fully defend against them, without mods. (Mountain tiles) It's likely that if they look like they did, it was a Thin-Roof Mountain Tile.ĭrop-Pod raids are dangerous. I've never played with CE, I'm not sure what that mod has as far as base security goes.ĭrop-pods can't drop through Thick Roofs. This way if they get past my outer perimeter wall my pawns still have support and cover, which make a huge difference in combat. I have 4 shield generators in my base, random barricades scattered around my farm fields, 3 tile wide hallways, and just started installing 'Deployable Turrets' which are pop up mini turrets that hide in the floor until you need them. A single melee pawn can block off the whole hallway but 3 shooters can still be behind him pouring on the hurt. It's also a good reason to build your hallways 3 tiles wide. That way if they get past your kill box, if you have one, you still have a means to defend yourself. I think they are in the Vanilla Expanded series.Īlso in general always scatter some defenses inside your base. Mountain roofs prevent drop pod raids, one reason to build under a mountain.Īnother way to prevent drop pod raids is to build large shield generators to protect your base.
